Madis Botanicals Logomark and Letterhead

Challenge: to create an updated logomark and letterhead system for an established manufacturer of specialty nutraceutical ingredients.

Solution: The primary creative boundary established by the client was that the company's logomark convey the concept of "new growth." I explored the use of stylized botanical imagery; leaves, shoots etc., arriving at the image of newly sprouting leaves reaching upward against a radiating semicircular background.

Arete Group Logomark and Letterhead

Challenge: to create a distinctive logomark and letterhead system for an upscale interior design and home remodeling firm.

Solution: One of the creative boundaries established by the client was that the logomark convey a painterly, organic quality. I explored the symbolic use of classical architectural elements rendered in brush and ink, arriving at the image of a stylized Ionic capital for the logomark.

Challenge: to create an iconic logomark and letterhead system for a co-op of freelance film and video directors.

Solution: Quick charcoal and wax crayon sketches were explored as a stylistic foundation for this logomark. Given free creative license by the client, symbols of the filmmaking industry provided direction with the classic director's chair as the final choice.

Strook & Strook & Lavan LLP

Challenge: to create a series of capabilities brochures for the various practice groups of a major law firm.

Solution: The creative requirement set down by the client was that the brochures convey a sophisticated and conservative image. Imagery symbolic of each practice group was chosen for the covers. Interior pages feature classic typefaces and open layout.

Groupama Asset Management Annual Report

Challenge: to design an Annual Report for a new asset management firm.

Solution: The creative requirement dictated by the client was that the design convey an image of stability and "smooth sailing." Images of the CEO's racing sloop were incorporated into the layout in addition to strong sans serif type and the nautical inspired corporate colors.

Trade Book Covers

Challenge: to create eye-catching cover designs that act as aggressive selling tools on bookseller Websites as well as bookstore shelves.

Solution: in each case, various combinations of typography, imagery, and color scheme were explored to ultimately arrive at solutions that were as attractive as they were effective in the sales process.

"Abstract" Web Theme Design

Challenge: to collaborate on a series of Website interface theme designs for use with the Wordpress blogging platform.

Solution: organic shapes in different color schemes were explored for use as backgrounds and icons. The final design sports a fun yet professional layout.

Challenge: another collaborative effort for a series of Website interface theme designs for use with the Wordpress blogging platform.

Solution: this theme is a business theme designed to help market products or services and features an orderly gridded layout to accommodate product imagery and advertising space.

Ethan Allen Sales Flyer

Challenge: to create a product flyer "leave behind" for an upscale home furnishings showroom.

Solution: using product photos and logo artwork provided by the client, a montage of imagery and typography was created to highlight the client's product offerings. Choice of typeface was guided by the client's logomark.

Video Journal Entry

Challenge: to create a short video journal illustrating my discovery and love of graphic design. The video required the use of animation, typography, found imagery, sound etc.

Solution: With the help of friends and colleagues, original video footage and still imagery was created along with typographic treatments and archival video montage to create my video journal entry.

Flash Animated Logo

Challenge: to create an animated type treatment for use in presentation introductions.

Solution: Using Flash, I incorporated several animation techniques in this sample to create an effect of a logo being cut from steel plating.
